Between 1923 and 1926, Lotte Reiniger cut her pre-drawn figures out of black cardboard for around 250,000 individual shots with Asian diligence (Bertolt Brecht). She connected the individual limbs with wire to animate them for the shots. As backgrounds, she used transparent layers of greaseproof paper with artistic landscapes, cities or oriental interiors. In this way, almost 96,000 frames for the film were created on the effects table. - Second soundtrack by the Teichmann brothers - Live electronics - Third soundtrack by I Salonsti - String quartet version in 2.0 + 5.1 - Bonus films (in HD): 1921 The Secret of the Marquise (2'24), 1931 Harlequin (2220), 1933 Carmen (942), 1935 Papageno (1052) - Interview with Lotte Reiniger (SD, approx. 17 min., 1981)
